Credit Guide
Last updated: 18 June 2026
This Credit Guide contains important information about NRG Financial Services and the credit assistance we provide. We are required to give it to you under the National Consumer Credit Protection Act 2009 (NCCP Act). It is designed to help you decide whether to use our services.

2. The credit assistance we provide
We are finance and mortgage brokers. We provide credit assistance by helping you find a home or investment loan that suits your situation, and by arranging and submitting the application on your behalf. This includes refinancing, debt consolidation, first home and general home lending, and investment lending.
“Credit assistance” means we suggest or assist you to apply for a particular credit product or a change to an existing one.
3. Our duty to act in your best interests
As mortgage brokers, the law requires us to act in your best interests when we provide you with credit assistance. Where there is a conflict between your interests and ours, we must give priority to yours. In practice this means we recommend loans based on what is best for you, not on which lender pays us the most.
4. Making sure a loan is suitable for you
Before we provide credit assistance, we will make reasonable inquiries about your requirements and objectives, and your financial situation, and take reasonable steps to verify that situation. We do this so that any loan we help you with is ‘not unsuitable’ for you.
You have the right to receive a copy of our preliminary assessment of suitability, free of charge, if you ask for it within 7 years of the date we provide credit assistance.
5. The lenders we work with
We have access to a panel of more than 40 lenders, including the major banks and a range of non-bank lenders. The lenders we used most often over the past 12 months were:
- Commonwealth Bank
- Westpac
- National Australia Bank
- ANZ
- Macquarie Bank
- ING
We are not restricted to these lenders and will recommend the option that best suits your needs. A full list of lenders on our panel is available on request.
6. Fees payable by you
In most cases you will not pay us a fee for our credit assistance. We are paid a commission by the lender (see below). If a fee does apply to your circumstances, we will tell you before you proceed and set out the amount, or how it is worked out, in writing in your Credit Proposal Disclosure document. You can ask us for an estimate at any time.
7. Commissions we receive
When your loan settles, the lender usually pays us commission. This is generally made up of an ‘upfront’ commission, calculated as a percentage of your loan amount, and an ongoing ‘trail’ commission, calculated as a percentage of your loan balance over time. The amount varies between lenders and products.
We will disclose the commissions we expect to receive for your specific loan in your Credit Proposal Disclosure document before you proceed. You can also request further information about how commissions are worked out.
8. Commissions and benefits we pay
If a third party referred you to us, we may pay them a referral fee or commission. This does not change the amount you pay. Where this applies, we will disclose it to you.
9. If you have a complaint
If you are not happy with our service, please tell us. We take complaints seriously and will work to resolve them quickly. You can contact us using the details in section 1, or read our full Complaints process.
If we cannot resolve your complaint to your satisfaction, you can refer it to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA), of which we are a member:
- AFCA membership number: 44198
- Website: afca.org.au · Phone: 1800 931 678
- Email: info@afca.org.au · Mail: GPO Box 3, Melbourne VIC 3001
This Credit Guide provides general information about our services. The specific fees, commissions and loan details for your situation will be set out in the disclosure documents we give you before you proceed.
